Our mission

Empowering young hearts and the families who support them

As a dedicated registered heart charity, Poppy’s Light Foundation provides essential support to children and young people living with Inherited Cardiac Conditions (ICCs) and to the families who love and care for them. Our work extends beyond immediate clinical needs to encompass psychological support, community awareness, and cutting-edge health advancement efforts focused on preventing sudden cardiac deaths among young people in our region. We believe in empowering every young person to live a full and safe life.

All-encompassing care

A spectrum of support

We recognise that managing an Inherited Cardiac Condition affects the entire family, the school environment, and the broader healthcare network. Our registered heart charity services are designed to address the needs of all groups involved in a child’s life: from the young person themselves, to their parents and guardians, to the professionals dedicated to their care.

Turning awareness into action

Prevention through four pillars

Our advancing health offer is the strategic means by which we actively work to reduce the risk of young sudden cardiac deaths in our community. This commitment is structured around our Four Pillars:

  1. Awareness: Educating schools, parents, and the public about the signs and risks of ICCs.
  2. Screening: Campaigning for and supporting proactive cardiac screening initiatives for young people.
  3. Research: Investing in studies that advance the understanding and treatment of ICCs.
  4. Support: Offering practical and emotional assistance to affected families, ensuring they are never alone.
