We are absolutely delighted and deeply honoured to announce that Poppy’s Light Foundation has been officially selected as the Charity of the Year 2026-27 by Barratt David Wilson Homes' North East division.
This partnership marks a significant milestone for us, providing a vital platform to amplify our mission and support more families across the region over the coming twelve months. Partnerships of this scale are truly transformative for charities like ours, offering both the visibility and resources necessary to expand our critical support services.

This selection follows a recent visit to our foundation by Emily and Rebecca, who subsequently nominated us for the partnership.
Our entire team extends our sincere thanks to Emily and Rebecca for their advocacy and to the wider team for choosing to support our mission. It means so much to know that our work resonated so deeply with them, and we are incredibly grateful for their support and belief in what we do.
Our vision for the future
This exciting partnership marks an important step forward for our charity and the families we support who are living with, or affected by, inherited heart conditions. Together, we will have the opportunity to raise greater awareness of these often life-altering conditions, encourage vital conversations around heart health and family screening and provide support to more families when they need it most.
Our mission has always been to ensure that no family feels alone following a diagnosis of an inherited heart condition. Through this collaboration, we hope to fund more support initiatives and continue educating people across the region.

Our first fundraising event in partnership with the business is taking place on 9th August, ‘Beach, Brews & Butties’, where attendees are invited to enjoy a hot drink, a bite to eat, an optional sea dip, and a relaxing sauna session at Sandhaven Beach in South Shields. We’d love for you to join us!
