Whole heart care

Compassionate heart health support

At Poppy’s Light Foundation, we believe that emotional support is an essential component of cardiac care. Our mission goes beyond medical treatment to provide comprehensive, integrated heart health support for people with heart conditions addressing both mental and physical wellbeing for the entire family. We offer compassionate services designed to ensure young hearts feel seen, safe, and strong, for lives lived well.

Integrated psychological services

We know that diagnosis can be life-changing, not just medically, but emotionally. That is why we are committed to making psychological services a standard part of care for those diagnosed with Inherited Cardiac Conditions (ICC).

We offer personalised psychological services in collaboration with Select Psychology.

We collaborate with hospitals to ensure timely heart health support is available right from the moment of diagnosis.

Our services include wellbeing programmes, counselling, and complementary therapies, alongside evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Play Therapy.

By integrating emotional support within the Inherited Cardiac Care team, our goal is to normalise support and reduce long-term distress for the entire family.

Beyond the Clinic

Healing through connection and joy

Healing involves connection, confidence, and shared experience. We facilitate therapeutic, social, and recreational events that foster peer support and shared experiences, helping families navigate uncertainty and feel less isolated.

  • Holistic experiences and activities: We provide various therapeutic, social, and recreational events for families.
  • Family joy: Special family experiences have included VIP performances of musicals like Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and concert tickets for a young person’s favourite band.
  • Comfort deliveries: Throughout December, Jellycats are delivered to the Freeman Hospital ICC clinic to bring comfort and a touch of warmth to patients.

The concert tickets felt like such a kind acknowledgment that my child is still just a teenager, not just a patient. It brought a huge smile to her face and meant the world to us.

Anonymous family feedback

We were so grateful for the chance to meet other parents through the activities. It really helped reduce our guilt and stress after the diagnosis
